CNC Mill Machinist/Operator I, Swing Shift

Position Summary
The CNC Mill Machinist/Operator, under close supervision, with specific instructions, and pre-established guidelines, performs a variety of basic machinist duties. He/she assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts by operating various types of manual, numerically controlled, and computerized machine shop mechanical equipment.

  • Operates mill machines per instructions.
  • Loads raw material into fixtures and “starts” machining process.
  • Inspects features of the machined part with Supervisor.
  • Documents work with use of calipers and micrometers.
  • Other applicable duties, as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Up to three (3) years of machine shop experience.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Excellent work ethic and dependability.
  • Ability to work overtime, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Up to three (3) years operation of horizontal mill machine.
  • Familiar with machining industry terminology.
  • Familiar with measuring tools (basic operation of a variety of hand tools and equipment), such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Mechanical aptitude for commonly used concepts and practices (machining process of fixturing a piece of material in a machining tool)
  • Takes direction from others to implementation of process.
  • Basic computer skills with Email and web browser navigation
  • Ability to follow inspection practices.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping and document procedures.

Physical Requirement

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions.
  • To sit, to talk, and/or to hear.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., as required.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Frequent standing and sitting.
  • Required to work on concrete floors, wearing steel toe shoes and safety goggles, up to 10-12 hours per day.

Position Summary
A Finishing Technician takes machined parts, in raw or unfinished state, and uses a variety of processes to “finish” the part.

  • Operation of standard finishing equipment:
    • Drill Press
    • Buffer
    • Grinder
    • Tumbling Machines with abrasives
    • Miscellaneous hand tools
  • Advanced ability to perform the following job functions:
    • Finishing edge breaks, tapping, and chamfering
    • Surface finishing including - grinding, sanding, sandblasting, and/or polishing to specification
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on cosmetics of the part.
  • Reviews blue prints for part features.
  • Utilization of standard shop inspection equipment and inspects the work piece to ensure print dimensions are maintained.
  • Completes documentation while following specified processes.
  • Interaction with machinists, quality control and other machine shop personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in fabrication/machining environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Good motor skills and dexterity.
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing process and timelines.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Team-player attitude.
  • Takes pride in workmanship.
  • Excellent work ethic and dependability.
  • Ability to work overtime, as required.
