Position Summary
The Machine Shop Manufacturing Engineer acts as a liaison between manufacturing and engineering departments; he/she will primarily interact with engineers, assembly technicians, and machine shop personnel. He/she will participate in cross-functional teams that perform manufacturing reviews on new designs. He/she will also, as required, attend preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, meetings of the manufacturing review board, and weekly project status meetings.

- Specifies, designs, and/or fabricates tooling and test fixtures.
- Reviews and dispositions discrepant parts.
- Investigates and implements alternative manufacturing methods and processes.
- Initiates design changes to increase product manufacturability.

Minimum Requirements
- BSME/BSMET degree or equivalent mechanical experience.
- Experienced in using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Strong reading skills for drawings and schematics.
- Hands-on experience with tooling and fixturing design.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and electromechanical components and systems.
- Familiarity with bills of materials, engineering change orders (ECOs), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems or manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems.
- Experience with taking products through from engineering prototypes to production release.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Good communication skills and PC skills (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to consistently meet project and budget deadlines.
- Strong team leader, builder, and motivator.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in machining.
- Experience with hydraulic systems.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- TPS manufacturing experience.
Physical Requirement
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions.
- To sit, to talk, and/or to hear.
- Frequently subjected to interruptions and multiple calls and inquiries. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
- Frequent standing and sitting.
- Required to work on concrete floors, wearing steel toe shoes and safety goggles, up to 10-12 hours per day.

Machinist II, Swing Shift

Position Summary
Machinists fabricate metal parts by operating various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop mechanical equipment. Significant understanding of overall machining practices required, with a background in CNC machining applications. May be required to set up and operate all types of numerically controlled equipment to perform machining operations. Adapts and improvises simple to complex tooling and fixtures to complete a machining assignment. Materials used consist of castings, forgings, tubing, bar stock, and extrusions, steel, stainless steel, titanium, brass, aluminum, and copper.

- Inspects and documents features of the machined part (while in process and final inspection) with use of shop inspection equipment.
- Full understanding and operational knowledge of CNC milling machining centers (set-up, tooling, etc.).
- Sets up and operates a horizontal machining center.
- Loads appropriate tools for the job.
- Understands the control system.
- Retrieves programs from database.
- Reviews and understands blue prints.
- Assess and apply appropriate machining solutions per instructions to both new and current manufacturing processes.
- Interaction with engineering, quality control and other machine shop personnel.
- Other applicable duties, as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
- Five (5) years of machine shop experience.
- Experience with set up and operation of horizontal machining centers.
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Team-player attitude.
- Excellent work ethic and dependability.
- Must have setup and production experience in close tolerance machined components.
- Must have a moderate understanding of tool geometry/ application/ speeds and feeds.
- Programming experience with the use of Cad Cam software (i.e.: Gibbscam, Surfcam) a plus.
- Able to work overtime, as required.

Tool Crib Associate

Position Summary
The Tool Crib Associate is responsible for maintaining the overall tooling inventory of the machine shop. This includes keeping all tools in a centralized location and distributing as necessary per the assigned jobs. This position is a new position, so the individual will be involved in the development and have an opportunity to add suggestions into the structure of this function. The Associate will work closely with the machine shop personnel to maintain quality and accuracy of all machine shop tooling.

- Maintain the machine shop cutting tool inventory including all aspects of tool life management.
- Responsible for loading tools with the use of the tool pre-setter and setting off-sets for machining operations.
- Participation in cost analysis, price quoting and purchasing of the cutting tools.
- Work with Machinists to update proper tool data on set-up instruction sheets.
- Ability to evaluate used cutting tools and disposition for sort, regrind, or reuse.
- Outsource damaged/worn tooling for regrind, if applicable.
- Actively communicate with shop personnel to evaluate the quality of tool holders and plans for repair/replacement of worn damaged holders.
- Receive tooling, enter into data entry system and stock it in appropriate location in the tool crib.
- Maintain tool crib area (clean and orderly).
- Create and document process for efficient tracking of tooling.
- Check–in and Check-out tooling inventory for all machining jobs.
- Responsible for keeping tool crib inventory accurate with current data.
- Maintain, track and follow-up on any open tooling purchase orders.
- Other applicable duties, as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1-2) or more years experience working in a machine shop.
