Quality Engineer Supervisor

Travel Required: Approximately 15% annually

Position Summary
The Quality Engineer Supervisor will be responsible for providing quality planning and analysis needed to satisfy customer requirements completely. This includes supervising quality control technicians and providing quality engineering support for major products, such as Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs), robotic manipulators, and subsea control systems.

  • Supervises quality technicians responsible for IQC and in-process quality control.
  • Analyzes preliminary plans and develop quality engineering programs to achieve customer quality and reliability objectives.
  • Monitors all sources of failure data to ascertain potential requirement for product “uptime” improvement.
  • Works with cross-functional teams on reliability improvement initiatives to reduce system failure rate.
  • Establishes quality metrics and creates reports to drive corrective action and track progress.
  • Uses quality tools and techniques to drive continuous product yield improvement.
  • Supports critical issue failure analysis and customer report generation.
  • Develops and establishes quality plans and procedures for integration and verification testing.
  • Trouble-shoots, diagnoses, and solves complex component, PCBA and systems issues.
  • Interfaces with Quality, Design, Production, Fabrication, and suppliers to ensure proper fabrication of various components.
  • Trains and audits suppliers on proper testing and acceptance of products.
  • Supports development of Design-for-Manufacturability guidelines.
  • Participates with Design Engineering during new product design reviews.
  • Prepares, updates, and maintains documents and records relating to quality engineering.
  • Complies with all ISO standards regarding product quality.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Materials Science, or equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years of experience working in quality engineering or related field.
  • Two (2) years in supervisory or management role.
  • Solid engineering skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to train and assist team members.
  • Familiarity with national and international regulatory requirements (ISO).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising quality in a Lean/TPS environment.
  • Six-sigma black belt preferred.
  • Experience with geometrical dimensioning and tolerance.

Physical Requirement

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions; to sit, to talk, and/or to hear.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., as required.
  • Required to work on concrete floors, wearing steel toe shoes and safety goggles.
