In 1986, Schilling Robotics delivered its first product, a small, hydraulically powered
underwater remote manipulator. By 1988, the Company had become a leading supplier of
high-performance underwater remote manipulator systems for the ROVs and cable trenching
machines used in offshore oil, telecommunications, scientific, and military operations.
New standard-product manipulator systems were brought to market in 1987, 1991,
1992, 1995, 1996, and 1997. During this time, Schilling also created unique manipulator
systems as special projects for military and scientific customers. By 1997, the Company
had developed a suite of manipulator systems and accessories to fit a variety of needs
and budgets. The Company currently offers five standard telerobotic manipulator systems -
the TITAN 4, ATLAS, RigMaster, CONAN, and ORION. These systems are engineered with a wide range
of functions, sizes, lift capacities, ranges of motion, control systems, and dexterities.
Today, Schilling's manipulator systems outfit more than 90% of the oil and gas industry's
ROV missions, and are known as the industry standard for seven-function and five-function manipulators.
