The XE TMS system has capacity for up to 850-meters of 35-mm tether (27-mm tether, optional). The tether is spooled onto the drum with constant tension, promoting smooth, even spooling and maximizing tether life. The grooved fiberglass drum liner promotes reliable multi-level spooling. The TMS drum and drive sheave are independently powered, allowing precise control of tether speed and line tension.

With average line speeds of 50 meters per minute, the TMS can recover and deploy tether much more quickly than typical TMS units. Tether speed can be varied to any degree in either direction, allowing the TMS to keep pace with the ROV during complex maneuvers such as docking in rough weather. Maximum line speed can also be limited to a suitable range for specific tasks. Cable is automatically rendered at a predetermined set point that can be adjusted up to the maximum line pull of the TMS.
